Those seeking counselling do so at difficult and vulnerable times in their lives. With life issues ranging from relationship conflict, grief and loss, and stressful life transitions, to issues of lingering depression and anxiety; many issues can hold you back from moving forward and thriving in your personal life.

My focus is to help you in getting past those stressful points and life issues, and help you learn about yourself and the underlying drivers contributing to your distress. I have extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and many other complimentary therapeutic modalities to help you make positive and lasting change. My heart is to see you grow beyond your stuck points and to thrive in life.

All About Dwayne

Having served the past 12 years in the Canadian Armed Forces with a Master of Social Work Degree from Wayne State, Dwayne is a seasoned psychotherapist that can support clients through a broad range of mental health concerns, including stress management and trauma.

 

With 18 years of experience as a licensed social worker, Dwayne has considerable experience working with first responders, health care professionals, and military members. His breadth of experience includes Forensic Assessment in the Ontario psychiatric hospital system as well as work within child and family services. Dwayne has worked in five different locations while deployed, and understands the challenges faced by military members and their families. He has provided extensive individual therapy to military officers in addressing operational stress injuries faced both at home and while deployed in military environments. He has also provided extensive group training in the area of preventative stress management.

 

Dwayne's primary treatment approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and he also incorporates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET) in the effective treatment of trauma symptoms for adult clients. Dwayne is licensed in Ontario (with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers), therefore clients of this province are eligible for reimbursement through their private extended health insurance providers. Clients of British Columbia may also request services dependent on their plan details.
